Canon Unwraps Cinema EOS C700 Digital Cinematography Camera
Canon is launching a new top-of-the-line model of its Cinema EOS digital cinematography camera line, the Canon Cinema EOS C700 with a Super 35 CMOS sensor, designed to be an ‘A’ camera for motion picture and TV production.
The modular camera will be available in three models: EF and PL lens mount versions, supporting up to 4.5K resolution and 15 stops of dynamic range, as well as a PL mount only EOS C700 GS PL with 14 stops of dynamic range, up to 4K resolution and a Global Shutter.
The EOS C700 supports both internal 4K Apple ProRes and XF-AVC recording, according to the announced specs. There’s also an optional 4K Codex CDX-3150 recorder — developed by Codex and Canon for the C700 — that enables the C700 to create uncompressed raw images up to 120 frames per second.
The C700 will be displayed next week at the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam.
