Gamers only have another 122 days to wait for the long-anticipated Playstation VR, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced at the E3 Expo.

Playstation VR goggles (previously known as Project Morpheus) will be available in the U.S. on Oct 13 for the previously announced price of $399 (or $500 for a bundle that include the Move hand controllers).

Plans are to have more than 50 games available for Playstation VR -- both existing and new titles -- by the end of the year, reported Shawn Layden, chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment, during the company's Monday press conference at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The press conference opened with a live orchestra that performed the score from God of War, conducted by its composer, Bear McCreary.

That was followed by a solemn message in the wake of the mass shooting in Orlando this weekend. "This [tragedy] underscores our need for greater love and tolerance," Layden said. "Our thoughts are with the families.... We stand with our friends in the LGBT community. They are in our hearts tonight."

E3 runs Tuesday through Thursday at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
