Academy Award-winning producer Ed Zwick will receive the Cinema Audio Society Filmmaker Award at the 50th Annual CAS Awards, to be held Feb. 22 at the Millennium-Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.

STORY: 'Captain Phillips,' 'Gravity,' 'Inside Llewyn Davis' Among Sound Mixers' Nominees

“It seems fitting that in celebration of 50 years of the CAS we are honoring Edward Zwick, a producer-director-writer of both award-winning film and television,” said David E. Fluhr, president of CAS. “His projects have consistently demonstrated a commitment to quality in story and craft, particularly sound. In continuing the CAS tradition of synergy between our two honorees, Zwick our filmmaker honoree and Andy Nelson, CAS our career achievement honoree, have collaborated on five film projects including the CAS and Oscar nominated Blood Diamond and The Last Samurai.”

Zwick's early work included serving as a director, producer and co-writer on TV movie Special Bulletin, for which he earned two Emmys and a Humanitas Award; and with Marshall Herskovitz, creating the Emmy winning series thirtysomething. Herskovitz and Zwick later formed The Bedford Falls Co. for their film and TV projects, which included My So-Called Life, Relativity and the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning series Once and Again.

Together with Herskovitz, Zwick produced Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic, winner of two Golden Globes and four Academy Awards; and Oscar nominee I Am Sam. As a producer of Shakespeare in Love, Zwick received an Academy Award for best picture. Additionally, Zwick directed Oscar winning films Glory and Legends of the Fall. His honors have also included three WGA Awards, two Peabodys and a DGA Award.

Zwick most recently directed and produced Pawn Sacrifice starring Tobey Maguire, Liev Schreiber, Michael Stuhlbarg and Peter Sarsgaard.
