Oscars: Cinematographer Roger Deakins, Who Has Never Won, Gets 13th Nom
With his rendering of Denis Villeneuve's drug cartel thriller Sicario, renowned cinematographer Roger Deakins has earned his 13th Oscar nomination, extending his record as the most-nominated living cinematographer, though he's still waiting for his first win.
Deakins is considered one of the greats of his generation and has earned a multitude of awards for his work including three BAFTAs, three American Society of Cinematographers Awards plus the ASC Lifetime Achievement Award. But an Oscar win has inexplicably eluded him.
He was previously nominated for Skyfall, The Shawshank Redemption, The Man Who Wasn’t There, Unbroken, True Grit, The Reader, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, No Country for Old Men, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Kundun, Fargo and Prisoners (his first collaboration with Villeneuve).
