Palo Alto-based virtual reality startup Jaunt confirmed that it raised an additional $66 million, while VR production company Felix & Paul Studios confirmed that it recently started operating a VR sound studio. Both were announced Monday, just days before the Oculus Connect 2 developers conference, which opens Wednesday in Hollywood.

Jaunt's $66 million Series C round of funding was led by The Walt Disney Company, Evolution Media Partners (a partnership of CAA-backed Evolution Media Capital, TPG Growth and Participant Media) and China Media Capital.

Additional new investors include ProSieben and Axel Springer SE, along with The Madison Square Garden Company. They join existing investors that include Google Ventures, Highland Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Sky and SV Angel. The new round brings Jaunt’s total funding to roughly $100 million.

Jaunt recently unwrapped a prototype of its developing Neo VR camera and opened a studio in Santa Monica.

Meanwhile, Montreal-headquartered Felix & Paul has started a new division — Headspace Studio — focused on sound design and sound mixing for VR experiences.

It will support Felix & Paul projects, such as its recent Jurassic World: Apatosaurus, as well as outside clients. Sound designer Jean-Pascal Beaudoin, who is director of sound technology at Felix & Paul Studios, is heading sound design for Headspace.
