Wanda Cinema Line, China's biggest exhibitor, is raising the curtain on Asia’s first Dolby Cinema location at Dalian Kaide Heping Square.

Set to open on Thursday with Legendary/Wanda-backed Warcraft, that will be closely followed this week with the opening of a second site from Wanda in Changchun. Dolby Cinema auditoriums from Wanda are also under construction in Chongqing and Jinan and expected to open soon.

This is part of a previously announced agreement between Wanda and Dolby to open 100 Dolby Cinema locations in China over the next five years. Wanda plans to expand the number of operating sites to 10 by December. Locations are expected to include Beijing and Chengdu.

Separately, Jackie Chan Cinema’s Beijing Wukesong is also expected to open a Dolby Cinema auditorium this year.

Dolby Cinema, which began its rollout in the spring of 2015, was developed as a premium cinema brand with the Dolby Vision high-dynamic-range format and Dolby Atmos immersive sound, in a specially designed setting. There are currently 20 Dolby Cinema locations in the U.S., through the Dolby Cinema at AMC brand, with 30 more expected from AMC by the end of the year. Four Dolby Cinema sites are currently operational in Europe.

Wanda Cinema Line, a subsidiary of Wanda Group, operates 311 theaters in China as well as cities in Australia and New Zealand, with 2,700 total screens.

Additional titles scheduled to open in Dolby Cinema for the Chinese market include Disney/Pixar’s Finding Dory, Twentieth Century Fox’s Independence Day: Resurgence, Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and Warner Bros.’ The Legend of Tarzan.
