EXCLUSIVE: 'Alice Creed' Director Goes to 'Hell and Gone'

J Blakeson, who wrote and directed last year’s thriller The Disappearance of Alice Creed, is in negotiations to direct Hell and Gone at Warner Bros. Donald De Line and Ed McDonnel are producing.

Not much is known in the way of plot details, but the script, by Christopher Nolan’s brother Jonah Nolan, is a Titanic-like historical tragedy and love story revolving around the Great Chicago Fire.

The Great Chicago Fire was one of the biggest disasters in American history and destroyed a large chunk of Windy City, killing hundreds.

Courtenay Valenti is overseeing for the studio.

Alice Creed, which starred Gemma Arterton, drew strong reviews back in the U.K., although it didn’t register on U.S. audiences’ radar when it was released this past summer. It did, however, get Blakeson noticed by execs and on directors' lists.

Blakeson, repped by CAA and David Higham Associates in the U.K., also wrote The Descent Part 2.
