GeekDad Blog and Books to Be Adapted for Film, TV (Exclusive)

The popular Wired magazine blog for tech-savvy fathers has spawned a bestselling book, a podcast, branded clothing and a GeekMom companion blog.

Michael J. Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig of Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films have picked up rights to the GeekDad brand, which they plan to develop into film and TV projects.

What began as a popular blog on the Wired website devoted to tech-savvy geek fathers has bloomed into a bestselling book, a podcast, branded clothing and a GeekMom companion blog. A second book in the series is scheduled for a May 2011 release by Penguin imprint Gotham Books.

Gotham published the first book, GeekDad: Awesomely Geeky Projects and Activities for Dads and Kids to Share, in May. Both were written by lead GeekDad blogger and editor Ken Denmead.

The GeekDad blog, championed for its parenting techniques, receives more than one million unique hits monthly and was named by Time as one of the 25 best blogs of 2010. A GeekKids blog is also planned.

WME-repped Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films produced DreamWorks' Fright Night remake, which Disney will release in August. The production company is also developing the thriller The Reincarnation of Peter Proud at Sony with David Fincher attached to direct, The Matadors at Disney and Nonstop at DreamWorks, as well as remakes of Angel Heart, Jacob's Ladder and L.A. Story.
