'Vanishing on 7th Street' Gets U.S. Distribution

A day after picking up The Troll Hunter, Magnet Releasing has acquired the U.S. rights to Brad Anderson’s Vanishing on 7th Street.

The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it screened as part of the Midnight Madness section.

Starring Hayden Christensen (pictured), John Leguizamo and Thandie Newton, the story follows a group of survivors who find themselves alone in Detroit, its population disappearing into thin air, and they find they must survive a creepy, almost-living darkness.

Anderson, who wrote and directed the thriller, is known for Session 9 and The Machinist, the movie that featured an emaciated Christian Bale.

Magnet, which is the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, will release the film theatrically in February 2011.
