After Thursday's elimination episode of American Idol, judges Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson greeted reporters to share their thoughts on the final two as well as discuss the show's impact and what the panel might look like next year (was Jennifer Lopez's press conference absence a sign of things to come?).
Jessica Sanchez’s top 3 songs were ambitious and then some. Starting with Mariah Carey’s “My All,” chosen by judge Jennifer Lopez, then onto her pick of Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” and finally Jimmy Iovine’s choice of Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There.” The 16-year-old hopeful recounted the night with THR moments after the credits rolled…
Did Jennifer Lopez tell the American Idol audience on Wednesday night that she was only committed to the show for two years? It certainly sounded that way during the taping of a farewell and good luck message for executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz, who was recently upped to CEO of FremantleMedia, a position that requires her to move to London. “You’ve been here 11 years, I’ve been here two,” said Lopez during the post-tape minutes after the credits rolled.
We're a week away from the season-11 finale, but American Idol's TMI-prone judge has already crowned the winner.
"When you sing, you make people hang on your every note," Tyler gushed following Jessica Sanchez's subdued yet stunning rendition of Mariah Carey's "My All," adding: "I hope you get used to encores. And on another crazy note, I think you'll be the last person standing there."
Joshua Ledet shouldn't be the next American Idol: He's a bit shy and socially awkward, at least on camera, and his old-school, throwback vibe seems initially out of step with today's Top 40 radio.
When Steven Tyler accepted his latest gig as a judge on American Idol in 2010, his Aerosmith bandmates were initally kept in the dark, leading to tension over the frontman's reduced time for touring.
After four months, there are four left on season 11 of American Idol. Who will emerge victorious? It’s a toss-up if ever there was one, especially after Wednesday’s two-theme episode, during which all of the last contestants standing -- Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez and Hollie Cavanagh -- brought their A-game. Viewers saw that on TV, what didn’t they catch? Read on for a view from inside the Idol-dome.
Weeks away from theAmerican Idolfinale, there are two heavyweight contenders who seem destined to face off for the crown: Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez, with both carrying off a set of jaw-dropping performances on Wednesday that received standing ovations from the judges' panel.
It was an extra rowdy crowd at the American Idol studio on Wednesday night, as viewers may have noticed, what with those deafening cheers during Ryan Seacrest’s opening remarks. As for the performances? They too had their share of screams with the final 5 bringing out the big guns -- which is to say their big voices. Each hopeful had his or her moment, as you saw on TV. Here’s some of what didn’t make it on the air…
Two big winners emerged on Wednesday's American Idol: Hollie Cavanagh, the shy little vocal powerhouse who could, and Joshua Ledet, who delivered another spectacular, gospel-tinged performance that earned a standing ovation from the judges.
Minutes after Elise Testone was eliminated on Thursday's American Idol, season 11 judge Jennifer Lopez lamented the fact that she and her table-mates can't mentor the finalists one-on-one.

Elise Testone’s permanent vacation home in the bottom three now has a “vacancy sign,” as the South Carolina blues rocker was eliminated on last night’s American Idol results show.
After last week’s shocking elimination of Colton Dixon, Testone’s dismissal seemed a foregone conclusion. She was in the bottom three almost every week, no matter what she did.
Wednesday night’s American Idol brought the drama alright, but much of it came before the show even started. That’s when rumors began flying (thanks to the insatiable TMZ) that host Ryan Seacrest was “MIA” with only minutes left to show’s start. In truth, he did miss dress rehearsal, and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe had to step in for the contestant banter.
On Wednesday's American Idol, the remaining six were given two assignments: a song from Queen, and one of their choice.
Some contestants won perfect scores in the first and second rounds, and others missed the mark at least once on a stage solo. All in all, like Jennifer Lopez said, "Everybody had one good performance. It's about who America loves."
