American Idol’s past and present collided at the Nashville, TN, nightclub Tootsie’s when current judge Keith Urban was joined by Steven Tyler on stage for a jam.

Urban was in town playing several gigs promoting his new CD, Fuse, set for release on Sept. 10, when he was surprised on Friday night by the Season 10 and 11 alum at the club located on Nashville’s Lower Broadway.

Harry Connick Jr. is returning to American Idol -- this time, in a judge's seat.

The singer, who has appeared on the Fox reality competition multiple times as a mentor and performer, is inking a deal to serve as a judge alongside Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez on the upcoming 13th season, a source close to the show tells The Hollywood Reporter.

The season 11 finalist ushered in the milestone with friends, family and fans who packed into Asbury Park venue The Saint (capacity: 150). Testone treated the audience to a sampling of fresh material from her debut album, In This Life, which she will independently release on her label, Red Tambo Records. Testone also sprinkled in an assortment of covers, including a rocking version of "Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin and two Led Zeppelin songs, "Heartbreaker" and a slowed down, bluesier version of her signature cover of “Whole Lotta Love,” which she performed on her season's Idol summer tour. The singer capped off the evening by handing out slices of birthday cake on appropriately themed plates decorated with musical notes.

The behind-the-scenes reboot of American Idol is starting to pick up steam. A source tells The Hollywood Reporter that the Fox show is closing in on its season 13 judges lineup. At the top of producers' wish list: singer, actress and mini-mogul Jennifer Lopez, who was a judge on Idol for two seasons, in 2011 and 2012.

But talks between producers and Lopez's representatives seem to have reached an impasse over -- what else -- money.

Following his debut stint as a judge on American Idol, Keith Urban is back to work on his upcoming album, Fuse, and has set its release for Sept. 10, The Associated Press reports.

As for whether the country star will return to Idol, well, that's all up in the air.

Despite rampant rumors, a rep for Kelly Clarkson tells The Hollywood Reporter that the American Idol winner will not be judging season 13 of the Fox show.
