ABC cancels another Adam Lambert performance

UPDATED: Boy, ABC can sure hold a grudge.

The network has canceled two more Adam Lambert appearances, this time on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "New Year's Rockin Eve."

On his Twitter account, Lambert wrote, "Yes, sadly friends, ABC has canceled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE. :( don't blame them. It's the FCC heat ... I AM doing Leno though. And lookin into something for NYE ... It'll all blow over. Let's focus on being positive! :)"

Sources say Lambert's appearance on the Dick Clark-produced event was still tentative, but still: How times can Lambert get dumped by one network?

Lambert was booked to perform on Kimmel's outdoor stage Dec. 17 before his controversial American Music Awards performance.

Previously, ABC canceled Lambert's appearance on "Good Morning America." CBS' "Early Show" swooped in and booked Lambert instead, only to get blasted by some viewers for blurring video footage showing Lambert kissing a male performer during the AMAs.

Disney/ABC Television Group president Anne Sweeney recently said the company was reviewingthe steps it takes to vet live performances and plans to contractually obligate artists to match their stage shows to their rehearsals.

"We certainly don't want to suppress artistry at any level, but wealso have to be very cognizant of who our audience is," Sweeneysaid.

Lambert is booked on NBC's "The Jay Leno Show" for a performance and interview Dec. 21.

UPDATE: The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation spoke to ABC about their decision to cancel the performances. After, ABC issued the following statement to GLAAD:

"Given the live nature of the American Music Awards, Adam Lambert’s performance, which differed greatly from his rehearsal, caught many, including the network, off guard. This is not a question of Lambert’s sexual orientation. As is evidenced by GLAAD’s media report card, ABC is at the forefront of positive gay and lesbian portrayal on television. We welcome openly gay performers and look forward to continuing our great work within the LGBT community."

GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios said:

"It would appear that the kiss between Adam Lambert and his keyboardist did not factor into ABC’s decision. ABC has a history of positive gay and transgender inclusion that includes featuring kisses between gay and lesbian couples on-air. We applaud the visibility of openly gay performers and congratulate Adam Lambert for sharing his story on the 'Ellen DeGeneres Show' this week as well as his upcoming appearance on 'The Jay Leno Show.'"
