ABC renews summer series 'Rookie Blue'
Unexpected: ABC is renewing its summer drama series "Rookie Blue."
After only three weeks, ABC is picking up the freshman drama for another round. The Toronto-based show will get into production later this summer.
So far, "Rookie" has averaged 7.1 million viewers and a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49. Modest, sure, but this summer, what isn't?
Certainly among the current crop of freshman scripted broadcast shows, "Rookie" has demonstrated the most potential since that other Canadian cop drama, CBS' "Flashpoint."
The renewal was announced in tandem with Canwest Broadcasting. The show was developed by Thump, in partnership with E1 Entertainment; executive produced by Tassie Cameron, Ilana Frank, Noreen Halpern, John Morayniss and David Wellington.
