Betty White's 'Hot in Cleveland' renewed

Betty White's hot streak continues.

The ex-"Golden Girls" star's new TV Land sitcom, "Hot in Cleveland," has been picked up for a second season.

The network has made a significant commitment to the show, ordering 20 episodes -- twice as much as season one. The second season is tentatively scheduled to debut in January next year.

Hot_in_cleveland "We are so excited that ‘Hot in Cleveland’ was embraced by viewers in such a big way," said Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land.  "We absolutely love the show and can’t wait to see what hilarious new experiences these characters will encounter."

The order also answers the question of whether co-star White would continue with the show. White initially agreed only to a single season and expressed some early reservation about diving full time into a series commitment.

"Hot in Cleveland" debuted last month to a whopping 4.8 million viewers, which TV Land touts as the most-watched sitcom telecast in cable TV history. The ratings have since dropped into the still-impressive low 3s.

The show is executive produced by Sean Hayes, Todd Milliner, Suzanne Martin and Lynda Obst. Following the premiere, Endemol has acquired the show for global distribution.
