'Big Bang' creator shrugs off Thursday move

tbbt While NBC is worried about "Big Bang Theory" shifting to Thursday nights this fall against its struggling comedy "Community," the move is not without risk to the CBS hit too. Moving "Big Bang" from its snug Monday night comedy block where it enjoys "Two and a Half Men" for a lead-in, to being the network's cold open on Thursdays, is a much steeper hill to climb.

CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler tried to keep expectations modest, noting that she doesn't expect "Big Bang" ratings to match its usual performance.

TCA 2010

"The show has enjoyed an extraordinary amount of support and love," Tassler said, "we don't expect the show to do the numbers it did on Monday just yet."

While creator Chuck Lorre shrugged off the move.

"That's not my job," he said. "Nobody asked my opinion. One assumes they've given it a lot of thought and it's a good thing for the show. Given where we are now after three seasons I'd be crazy to argue with the choices CBS has made along the way."

"We grow the crops we don't have the truck that brings it to market," Lorre added, then, under his breath, said, "Really? I just said that?"

A critic asked actor "Big Bang" co-star Kunal Nayyar about the increase in Indian actors in primetime.

"Yes there's been an explosion ... we always say we're the new black," Nayyar said. "It doesn't surprise me, we're all good-looking and talented …. We'll continue to take over the world."

"Someday Jews will make their mark," added co-star Simon Helberg, drawing laughs.

Some fourth season tidbits: Sheldon will have a "very specific … unique relationship" with Mayim Bialik's love interest, who was introduced in the season finale. Also, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak will make a guest appearance on the show, playing himself.
