Demetri Martin signs CBS comedy deal
Exclu: Actor-comedian Demetri Martin could join CBS' comedy lineup.
The Daily Show veteran has signed a deal with the network to write, produce and star in his own project.
The agreement is a blind script deal, so there's no word yet what the project will be about.
Martin's off-kilter, younger-skewing sensibilities are right in line with the network's current development focus, which has the traditionally slightly older-skewing broadcaster going after fresh ideas from blogs and Twitter feeds (and couldn't you imagine Jim Parsons and Demetri Martin in the same comedy block?).
Martin's Comedy Central series Important Things with Demetri Martin ran for two seasons. He also showed some more serious acting chops in the film Taking Woodstock.
Comedy Central confirms Important Things will not be coming back for a third season.
