History Greenlights Follow-up to 'WWII in HD'
10:10 PM PDT 10/18/2010 by James Hibberd
Exclu: History has ordered an airborne follow-up to its Emmy-winning WWII in HD miniseries.
The network has greenlighted WWII in HD: The Air War, telling the story of the American 8th Air Force's battle to defeat the German Luftwaffe in the months leading up to D-Day.
Sean Astin, Chris O'Donnell and Elijah Wood are lending their voices to historical participants in the wartime drama. Rob Lowe narrates.
The miniseries uses largely never-before-seen color footage of air battles that has been remastered to HD-level quality.
One of the stories being told will be that of 60 Minutes veteran Andy Rooney, who was a reporter for Stars & Stripes during the battle. The mini will debut at 9 p.m. Nov. 10.
