Jennifer Finnigan on 'Better With You': 'We Have Good Feelings About' a Season 2
Modern Family may be getting all the glory, but the rest of ABC's Wednesday night lineup isn't slacking off either.
Better With You, the network's multicamera freshman comedy which centers on the Putney family and their romantic relationships, has performed well in its 8:30 p.m. time slot. with more than 7 million tuning in to its Christmas episode.
Star Jennifer Finnigan, who teased that her character Maddie is becoming "nerdier and nerdier," expressed optimism for her show's chances of renewal.
"I think we have good feelings about it," she told The Hollywood Reporter at the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday. "I've been in this for a long time so I'm cautiously optimistic, but I think we have as good a chance as any."
Speaking like a TV vet, Finnigan provided some numbers to bolster her case.
"We're keeping a lot of our lead-in," she said. "We're basically keeping 90% retention from The Middle at this point, so there's not much more the network can ask for, I think."
With ABC's newly-formed three-hour comedy block debuting in mid-April, Finnigan waxed poetic about the potential for crossovers in the future.
"If we could get a crossover, I would be over the moon," she said.
