Lakers vs. Celtics top Sunday ratings
ABC led Sunday night with its presentation of Game 2 of the NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.
The game's numbers (UPDATED: 13.5 million viewers, 5.5 adults 18 to 49 rating and a 12 share) show the match is up 62% from last year’s comparable outing. For a lead-in, ABC aired a "Jimmy Kimmel Live" special (7.4 million, 2.9/9) and a pre-game countdown (7.9 million, 3.1/9).
Fox (averaging 3.9 million, 1.7/5) and NBC (averaging 6.4 million, 1.7/5) tied for second place. Both networks aired repeats aside from NBC’s two hour "Dateline" (7.9 million, 2.0/5).
In third, CBS (averaging 7.9 million, 1.6/5) aired repeats and its second week of "Million Dollar Password" (9.6 million, 2.1/6), down a tenth of a point from its premiere. The CW (1 million, 0.4/1) aired repeats.
Here’s a suspenseful moment from last week’s "Password" debut where a contestant goes for $250k while trying to mind meld with Neil Patrick Harris. Note contestant’s priceless "what the hell?" expression when his near-impossible replacement word pops up.
