UPDATED: Some mixed news for NBC on Wednesday: The network's latest "Law & Order" franchise entry "Los Angeles" had a solid series premiere, but ratings for the second week of spy series "Undercovers" slipped dangerously low.

"LOLA" (10.6 million viewers, 3.2 adults 18-49 rating) grew from its "Law & Order: SVU" (9.9 million, 2.8) lead-in and clearly won 10 p.m.

At 8 p.m., though, "Undercovers" (7.2 million, 1.6) dropped 24% for Week 2 to place fourth in its slot.

Though its fall was arguably the most dramatic, "Undercovers" wasn't without company. Most shows slipped this week, and one went even lower -- ABC's "The Whole Truth" (4.6 million, 1.2) is firmly an at-risk show, down 20%.

CBS won the night with "Survivor" (12.2 million, 3.5) dropping 13% after a steady couple weeks and tied as the show's lowest-rated episode ever. "Criminal Minds" (14.6 million, 3.6) was down 10%. Week 2 of "The Defenders" (10.4 million, 2.5) fell 14%.

Fox was in second place with a steady, two-hour "Hell's Kitchen" (6.1 million, 2.8).

NBC ranked third. ABC placed fourth despite having the night's top-rated show with "Modern Family" (11.9 million, 4.6). The comedy hit was down 10% from last week's high-flying premiere, even with the heavily hyped "kiss episode" (see clip below).

The rest of ABC's comedy block also dipped: "The Middle" (8.4 million, 2.4) was down 7%, freshman comedy "Better With You" (7 million, 2.1) was off 12% and "Cougar Town" (7 million, 2.8) was down 18%.

On The CW, "America's Next Top Model" (2.9 million, 1.3) held steady in the demo while rising to a cycle high in total viewers. "Hellcats" (2.2 million, 0.9) slipped in the demo, though scored its best women 18-34 rating since its debut.
