Modest-sized start for 'More to Love'; 'Hell's' surges
UPDATED: Fox's latest reality experiment "More to Love" got off to a modest launch Tuesday against tough competition, while "Hell's Kitchen" dramatically climbed from last week's premiere.
Fox won the night with some mixed news: "Hell's" (7 million viewers, 3.4 adults 18-49 rating) grew 18% to top 8 p.m. and the debut of Mike Fleiss' overweight dating show "More to Love" (4 million, 1.9) came in third place at 9 p.m. despite having the strongest lead-in.
"Love" went up against "America's Got Talent" (13.2 million, 3.5) and "Big Brother" (6.2 million, 2.1) and, in a bit of clever competitive scheduling by ABC, a repeat airing of Fleiss' "The Bachelorette" finale (3.1 million, 0.9) leading into its hour-winning "After the Rose" special (8 million, 2.8). Dating elimination shows often grow during their seasons, however, and "Love" (THR review here) grew its adult demo rating slightly during its hour.
