'Oprah Winfrey Show' hits all-time ratings low
6:22 AM PST 11/30/2010 by James Hibberd
"The Oprah Winfrey Show" sunk to an all-time low in the most recent ratings report, falling below the 3.0 mark for the first time in the show's history.
The syndicated program averaged 3.8 million viewers for the week of June 28.
Now, there's some mitigating circumstances, but nothing that Winfrey hasn't faced before over the years. The show was repeats leading up to a holiday. And for two days during the week, the telecast was preempted in 14 markets due to Wimbledon coverage.
Still, with Winfrey readying to launch her OWN cable network in January, it's not the sort of headline one desires.
"'The Oprah Winfrey Show' still holds its place as the No. 1 daytime talk show for the duration of its 24-year run," pointed out her spokesperson.
