Season 5 'Dexter' trailer looks great

Comic-Con 2010

I expected to have the "Dexter" trailer for you, but it won't be cleared for online today.

So, I'll just have to describe what was just shown for cheering fans in Ballroom 20.

(Spoilers for those who are not caught up)

Police arrive at Dex's house right after he discovers Rita's body.

His first words are, oddly, "It was me."

Rita's kids are angry at him, blaming him for not protecting Rita ... Quinn suspects Dexter killed his wife ("If this we anyone but Dexter we'd at least be thinking like detectives," he tells Dex's sister) ... That neighbor guy who lusted after Rita isn't helping matters, saying Dexter comes and goes all hours of the night and that something is up with him...

"Normally having a target would make me feel good … now it means nothing," narrates Dex.

Basically, the walls are closing in...

"We were left with this amazing event at the end of season four," said exec prod Chip Johannessen. "We felt like we had a starting point and where it goes from there surprised us and hope it will surprise you ... [Dexter is in] a much more ragged place, and this thing that calmed him and brought him peace isn't working so well anymore."

Michael C. Hall (looking well, btw) said, as an actor, playing Dex is as cathartic as ever.

"I'm never more relaxed than after a day I've simulated killing someone."
