'Shark Tank' panel: 'Greed is very powerful'

Shark tank The panelists for ABC's "Shark Tank" are so antagonistically opposed that they barely need questions. When press tour critics ask whether viewers will watch a reality show about venture capitalists taking business pitches when Wall Street CEOs are among the biggest villains in America right now, the panelists waste no time ripping into each other.

"A bad lie has been told here," said one of the reality show's venture capitalist "sharks," Kevin O'Leary. "The most powerful emotion a human being has is the pursuit of freedom that wealth gives you. It's great thing. Greed is very powerful."

"I think that was such crap," counters fellow shark Robert Herjavec. "This country was built by small businesses. What got us into this is rich CEOs on Wall Street who have no risk, feel no pain if they go under."

"It's the blind pursuit of pure greed and profit that got us here today."

"We need to get back to businesses with great value."

This chemistry isn't hugely evident in the "Shark Week" pilot, which debuts tomorrow after the return of "Who Wants to Be a Multimillionaire," But the show improves as the season progresses.
