The former 'SNL' Weekend Update anchor returns to series TV.
NEW YORK - Comedy Central has picked up the series Sports Show with Norm Macdonald.
The green light for the show marks the return to series TV for the former Saturday Night Live Weekend Update anchor.
Comedy Central has placed an eight-episode order for the show, Kent Alterman, head of original programming and production, announced Wednesday. The new series is scheduled to begin production this month and is slated for an April premiere.
It will feature Macdonald’s comedic take on topical and controversial stories from the sports world and will be taped in front of a live studio audience.
The show will be executive produced by Macdonald, Marc Gurvitz, Lori Jo Hoekstra and Jackhole Productions’ Daniel Kellison.
Jim Sharp and Gary Mann are the executives in charge of production for Comedy Central.
