USA renews 'Criminal Intent' for final season

"CI" lives -- for one more year.

USA Network's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" is getting a tenth and final season.

The network has ordered eight episodes of the veteran spinoff, which has been on the bubble all summer after contracts expired for several key actors expired in July.

Vincent D'Onofrio will continue on the show, but the network is still negotiating with several other performers -- including Jeff Goldblum.

Goldblum replaced Chris Noth two years ago and has said he's not returning to the series. The actor originally cited "uncertainty" about the show's future as the reason he wanted out. 

The crime procedural had a major casting shakeup earlier this year, with Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian exiting the series and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Saffron Burrows joining.

"We have been the fortunate caretakers of this legendary series, and we plan to give it the world-class farewell it so richly deserves," said Jeff Wachtel, president original programming at USA. "Dick and his team promise to create a major event for television with incredible surprises. The plan is for this to be the series finale, but with a Dick Wolf franchise, one really never knows until it’s over."
