BULLSEYE, Dec. 24: 'Fockers,' 'Grit,' 'Valentine,' 'Witch,' More
See where audience interest is leading into the weekend.
It's the Christmas holiday weekend, and there are lots of plum Christmas Day movies for the picking.
Paramount's True Grit, from the Coen brothers, and Universal's threequel Little Fockers open wide against holdovers Tron: Legacy from Disney, The Fighter from Paramount, How Do You Know and The Tourist from Sony and Black Swan from Fox Searchlight. Meanwhile, Focus Features' Somewhere and Screen Gems' Country Strong head into the specialty marketplace, as well.
A veritable buffet of goodies.

Even as it's being pilloried by critics, Fockers looks to lead the weekend if the Dec. 24 Flixster Bullseye is on target, though Tron: Legacy maintains strong interest.
The Ben Stiller-Robert De Niro retread is likely to gross $40-45 million, while the Coens' True Grit remake should be their biggest opener to date, easily clearing Burn After Reading's $19 million opening in 2008. I think it could get over $30 million for the five-day window if it suddenly draws the attention of younger males.
Tron is difficult to call, but it could come in above Grit if the western doesn't play strong, somewhere around $25 million.
Here's Pamela McClintock's box-office preview for the weekend for added analysis.
