SXSW: Billy Bob Thornton, Harmony Korine and Kristen Wiig Films Added to Lineup

Michael Stipe will be on hand to present films inspired by R.E.M.'s new album.

A Willie Nelson documentary from Billy Bob Thornton, a work-in-progress screening of the Kristen Wiig comedy Bridesmaids and a short film starring Die Antwoord from Harmony Korine have joined the SXSW film festival lineup. Thornton's film, The King of Luck, will be the closing-night screening of the fest, which runs March 11-19 in Austin.

Also added to the program are a series of films inspired by the new R.E.M. album Collapse Into Now, with Michael Stipe on hand for a Q&A, and Hit So Hard, P. David Ebersole’s documentary about gay Hole drummer Patty Schemel.

This is a documentary about Willie Nelson: the man, the songwriter, the friend, the father, legendary performer and champion of the family farmer. (World Premiere)


Bridesmaids (Work In Progress)
