O.J. Simpson Prosecutor Marcia Clark Signs With UTA (Exclusive)
Marcia Clark, the lead prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson case who has carved out a second career as a best-selling author and legal analyst, has signed with UTA for film and television.
Clark is the author of The New York Times No. 1 best-seller Without a Doubt (about the Simpson case), which was recently rereleased as an e-book exclusive. She also wrote multiple best-selling legal thrillers in the Rachel Knight series, including The Competition, Killer Ambition, Guilt by Degrees and Guilt by Association. Clark co-wrote a TNT pilot for a Rachel Knight series that was not picked up to series.
Her newest legal thriller, Blood Defense, publishes in May with a sequel set for late 2016. UTA will package the new series for television.
Clark became well known as the lead attorney in the prosecution of Simpson for the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. The case has returned to public attention with the highly rated 10-part FX series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, which concluded April 5.
Clark recently spoke with THR about the case, the series and how being sexually assaulted in Israel at 17 turned her from wanting to be an actress to being a lawyer. Clark graduated from UCLA and Southwestern School of Law before joining the District Attorney’s office in 1981. She left the DA’s office in 1997.
UTA will work in conjunction with her literary agent Dan Conaway of Writers House. She was formerly represented by CAA.
