With the mercury rising, Hollywood is looking for a steamy summer read that can make the trek to the big screen. The latest novel from the author of The New York Times Notable Book Please Don't Come Back From the Moon and My American Unhappiness mixes the emotional heft of The Affair with the humor of the Ben Stiller-Naomi Watts vehicle While We're Young. Summerlong revolves around a bored couple whose marriage unravels over a sultry Iowa summer amid reckless choices and late-night encounters with a pair of 20-somethings. Lots of early buzz has this book, out June 16, set to replicate the slow-burn success of novels-turned-upcoming films Where'd You Go, Bernadette and Beautiful Ruins.
