Who runs the world? Girls. But who plays the sax? That would be Beyonce, based on a black-and-white photo posted to the superstar's Tumblr account.

Whether the photo was part of a recording session for her upcoming album -- the singer's fifth studio effort -- or her upcoming half-time show extravaganza at the NFL Super Bowl on Feb. 3 isn't entirely clear.

But there's something undeniably thrilling about seeing the glamorous pop icon -- who graces the cover of GQ's upcoming "100 Sexiest Women of the 21st Century issue" -- playing the sexy instrument synonymous with John Coltrane and Charlie Parker.
