Chris Brown Talks to Police About Drake Bar Brawl (Report)
The singer's lawyer, Mark Geragos, presented the NYPD with "physical evidence" allegedly proving Drake as an instigator in the melee at Soho's W.i.P.
Hours after his allegedly violent encounter with Drake at a New York City nightclub, Chris Brown has given his side of the story to police on the bottle-throwing incident that resulted in a gash on his chin.
TMZ reports that Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, presented the NYPD with "physical evidence" purportedly proving Drake as an instigator in the brawl at Soho's W.i.P. in the wee hours of Thursday morning. According to TMZ, Brown later talked to detectives and is being labeled as a "witness and a victim" instead of a suspect; for that matter, Drake isn't a suspect either, but it is not yet known whether he has spoken with police.
In a statement Thursday, the rapper denied any involvement in the fight.
"Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began. (Drake) did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property," the statement said.
Meek Mill, a rapper who was in Drake's group, refuted reports he threw a bottle of champagne in Brown's direction; the culprit might be someone in Brown's entourage who egged on Drake throughout the night, TMZ said, citing anonymous sources.
As previously reported, video footage of the scuffle soon surfaced online.
Early in the video, a man who appears to be Brown can be seen in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen escaping a headlock. Later, a large man wearing a blood-spattered wifebeater comes into view after leaving Brown’s area of the club. Not long after that, another large man appears on screen and a punch is thrown.
Brown, who later posted pictures of a cut, apparently had sent Drake’s table a bottle of champagne as a peace offering earlier in the night. Both men have romantic histories with Rihanna, which has led to speculation of a feud between the two.
Drake is believed to have sent a nasty note back to Brown’s table in response, and then walked over to his table, punched him and thrown a bottle at Brown. According to the NYPD, five people were injured in the brawl and no arrests were made. The two pop stars had left the scene by the time cops arrived.
Afteward, Brown tweeted: “How u party wit rich n**** that hate? Lol... Throwing bottles like girls? #shameonya!" and "Ok! N****s stand behind security! Ok! U don't pay them enough."
He's since deleted the posts from his Twitter page.
