Fred Armisen to Direct Kings of Leon Concert
The "Portlandia" star will oversee the live stream of a London show on Aug. 9.
Fred Armisen is set to direct a forthcoming concert video for power rockers Kings of Leon.
The actor, star of IFC's irony-laden Portlandia sketch series, will oversee the live stream of the band's performance of songs like "Use Somebody" on Aug. 9 in London.
The concert will be streamed online as part of the American Express Unstaged series, which has previously featured concerts by Vampire Weekend, Usher and Jack White.
Kings of Leon are touring in the lead-up to the release of their latest album, Mechanical Bull, out Sept. 24. They played their single "Supersoaker" on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon this week.
Armisen, who recently exited Saturday Night Live after 11 years, has directed videos for such bands as the Tigers & Monkeys and Helio Sequence.
He was also the drummer for the hardcore band Trenchmouth and wrote and directed a 1998 comedy short titled Guide to Music and South by Southwest.
