Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend' Clip Boasts Fast Cars, Dancing Women (Video)
The video, helmed by Director X, bears a striking resemblance to 'NSYNC's similarly titled 2002 hit "Girlfriend."
After weeks of build up, Justin Bieber has finally unveiled his highly anticipated “Boyfriend” music video, pairing his new, mature sound with an equally new and mature look.
The video opens with a winter wonderland, previewed during Bieber’s appearance on NBC’s The Voice, in which the 18-year-old whispers the opening lyrics to the track. It quickly becomes clear that the video is about to take a turn, as two young ladies are shown watching the Biebs on an iPhone.

Cut to a scene straight out of The Fast and the Furious, where we see a parking lot full of scantily clad ladies and even more sports cars. Bieber does donuts, strums the guitar, shows off his dance moves and cozies up to a beautiful brunette, who looks eerily similar to his real-life girlfriend, Selena Gomez, in the clip.
Flash back a decade, and Bieber appears to be taking a page out of the ‘NSYNC playbook. Not only does the track’s title and subject bear a striking resemblance to their 2002 hit “Girlfriend,” but the videos’ subject matter is nearly identical. Watch both below.
With the release of his new album, Bieber is clearly working to transition into the next phase of his career – adulthood. While young love has long been a subject of the teen’s catchy pop songs, he shows a new, more grown-up side of himself in his latest clip. Having already traded in his signature bangs, Bieber opts for a James Dean-esque coif. What do you think of his new look?
