Music Industry Reacts to Death of Producer Phil Ramone
Tony Bennett, John Legend, Josh Groban and many other artists paid tribute on social media.
Phil Ramone, the music producer and engineer who worked with numerous industry luminaries over several decades, died at age 79 on Saturday in a New York hospital.
Tony Bennett, John Legend, Josh Groban, Julian Lennon and many other industry figures paid tribute on social media to the producer behind some of the most well-known albums of his time.
"Phil Ramone was a lovely person and a very gifted musician and producer. It was a joy to have him work with me in the recording studio on so many projects as he had a wonderful sense of humor and a deep love of music," wrote Bennett in a statement posted on Facebook. "Phil had the admiration and respect from everyone in the entertainment industry and his passing is a great loss."
Neil Portnow, president of The Recording Academy wrote in a statement: "Our deepest condolences go out to his family, his friends, the musicians who had the benefit and privilege of working with him, and all who were inspired by his brilliant vision and work."
