Rihanna Shines Bright Like 'Diamonds' on New Single (Audio)
The superstar has released the first offering from her upcoming seventh studio album.
Rihanna has unveiled the first taste of her forthcoming seventh album: empowering new single "Diamonds" premiered online on Wednesday, before the still-untitled disc drops before the end of 2012.
Continuing the mineral motif after shouting out "yellow diamonds" on "We Found Love," Rihanna implores her partner to "shine bright like a diamond" as her voice grasps at the upper tips of ecstasy. Produced by longtime collaborators Stargate as well as Benny Blanco, "Diamonds" notably slows the electronic stomp of previous lead singles "Only Girl (In The World)" and "We Found Love," instead offering a lush, mid-tempo pool of synthesizers and Rihanna's powerful pipes.

After releasing album in three straight Novembers -- Rated R in 2009, Loud in 2010 and Talk That Talk last year -- Rihanna is expected to drop a new album "before the end of this year," according to a press release from Island Def Jam issued earlier this week. An album title and official track list has yet to be unveiled.
Earlier this month, Rihanna's music video for "We Found Love" won Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards, and weeks later, the pop singer headlined the first night of the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. Next year, Rihanna will bring her stage show across North America on the "Diamonds" world tour, which kicks off on March 8, 2013 in Buffalo, N.Y.
