Rihanna 'Better' After Battling the Flu
The hyper-scheduled singer, who received an IV drip after Monday's Met gala, was slowed down by sickness, a source tells THR.
Hours after her fashionably late arrival to Monday's Met Costume Institute Gala, Rihanna wound up bed-ridden with an IV in her arm, posting the photographic evidence on her Twitter account.
Days earlier, she tweeted, "Phuck bein sick!" Despite her ilness, the 24-year-old "We Found Love" chart-topper pulled herself together to attend the star-studded Met party, which is the closest New York City gets to the Oscars, red carpet-wise. Arriving behind such guests as Gwyneth Paltrow, Kanye West and Tim Tebow, Rihanna stepped out in a slinky, black Tom Ford gown, appearing calm and confident.
A source close to Rihanna tells THR she's been sick with the flu and a fever since last Tuesday, but is now feeling better.
Last Saturday, she performed while under the weather on Saturday Night Live, surprising producer Lorne Michaels by skipping dress rehearsals, which artists rarely do.
“Rihanna did not do the dress rehearsal because of her throat, which was the first time that’s ever happened," Michaels told the New York Post. “I think for the live audience, when they heard that — we announced it just before she would have gone on — that also sort of took the air right out of the room. It was a very difficult dress [rehearsal] to gauge."
Rihanna has a lot on her plate: her debut movie, Battleship, opens next Thursday, and on May 23, she'll perform on American Idol's finale, one of the best gigs in music, with millions of viewers tuning in.
