Watch Taylor Swift Embrace the Crazy in "Blank Space" Music Video

What a mean girl

After Taylor Swift poked fun at herself as the uncool kid with zero dance moves in the "Shake It Off" music video, the clip for new single "Blank Space" once again centers on self-parody — this time, Swift is sending up her dating history by embracing the rumors that she's the craziest of girlfriends. "Got a long list of ex-lovers/They'll tell you I'm insane," Swift sings in the video, before proving the gossip to be correct.

After being mistakenly posted on Yahoo! on Monday morning and then being removed a few hours later, the "Blank Space" video has been officially released on VEVO. Watch the clip below.

Directed by Joseph Kahn, the "Blank Space" video is set in a gaudy mansion that Swift calls home, and over the course of one day, she experiences the highs and lows of romance with a generically good-looking dude. They eat together, she paints a portrait of him, they relax on the sprawling grass of her estate … but when Swift catches the guy texting another woman, all hell breaks loose.

Eventually the fighting becomes fantastically cartoonish: Swift takes a golf club to the guy's convertible, slashes the portrait of him in her hallway and stabs a heart-shaped cake, which explodes with red liquid. The whole delirious-damsel image feels like something out of a Woody Allen film, and when the tortured guy takes off, another one takes his place — another bad guy that Swift can make good for a weekend.

"Blank Space" is the second single off Swift's fifth studio album, 1989, which sold a whopping 1.287 million copies in its first week. While 1989 is primed to enjoy another week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, its lead single, "Shake It Off," spent its third week last week atop the Hot 100 chart.
