Whitney Houston's Duet With Jordin Sparks, 'Celebrate!,' Marks Late Singer's Final Recording (Audio)
The legendary singer laid down the song with the "American Idol" star as part of the soundtrack to their film "Sparkle."
In what is an uncannily bittersweet marriage of irony and legacy, Whitney Houston's final song, a duet performed with Jordin Sparks called "Celebrate!" has been released online.
Part of the soundtrack to their remake of the film Sparkle, the song is an upbeat track almost reminiscent of the early day, 1980's Houston pop numbers that first made her a star. The late legend, who passed away at the age of 48 on the eve of the Grammys in February, is now the lower-octave member of the chorus in this one, helping to set up Sparks' star-catching vocal flourishes.
The film recently screened footage at CinemaCon, with a trailer released earlier this spring. It will be the first film in which Houston stars since 1996's The Preacher's Wife; she also executive produced the picture, which co-stars Mike Epps and Cee Lo Green.
