Hollywood, New York to Converge at 'American Beauty' Book Launch Party
Former Anna Wintour assistant-turned-photographer Claiborne Swanson Frank recruits a Hollywood crowd to celebrate the release of her new book, published by Assouline.
Book parties in L.A. aren't usually on the fashion radar, but the one for American Beauty, a new one hundred page Assouline art/photo book by Claiborne Swanson Frank, is hosted by L.A. women whose portraits are in the book: Lake Bell, stylist Mary Alice Haney, designer Jenni Kayne and Minnie Mortimer.

That powerhouse group is sure to attract the posh Angeleno crowd Frank will want to meet. Her New York book party was quite social and stellar, a cross between literati and glitterati. Is that the glit literati? In any case, Frank -- who hails from the famous Swanson foods family -- is a former Vogue assistant to Anna Wintour, who decided to become a photographer. After a successful exhibition in New York, she got a book deal to give us her impressions of American beauty. Wintour's assistants have really gone on to bigger and better, haven't they?
Expected are Project Runway producer Jane Cha, super talent manager Molly Madden, Emily Current and Merritt Elliot of Current Elliot denim, Shiva Rose, Fashion Star producer James Deutch, Rain Phoenix, Anne Crawford of Roger Vivier shoes, Cameron Silver of Decades, plus super stylists Jessica Paster, George Kotsiopolous and Lee Harris, the latter of whom works for Drew Barrymore.
It's tricky, because the book party will be in Hancock Park on Wednesday night opposite Saks Fifth Avenue's Unforgettable Evening, hosted by Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg, which will feature Sheryl Crow and Rihanna.
