Andrea Lieberman was one of the first people in Hollywood to legitimately use the title of "stylist." She started her career dressing P. Diddy and his then-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez. It was Lieberman who put J.Lo into the Donatella Versace green palm print chiffon gown at the Grammy's that turned her into an instant style icon. Lieberman also dressed Gwen Stefani and helped her with the designs of all her early L.A.M.B. collections.
A few years ago, Lieberman moved back to New York and started her own line of clothes, A.L.C. Andrea Lieberman Collection. It's become a major seller at Barneys and other stores, and it's a great combo of median price point, casual but chic and trendy but effortless and perennial.
When the line took off, Lieberman stepped back from styling -- but she's one of the new serious stylists who's graduated to successful fashion designer, and her line includes more and more pieces every season.
It says a lot about L.A. Fashion's Night Out -- Sept. 6 this year -- that Lieberman will come to L.A. and host at Saks Fifth Avenue Beverly Hills (apparently with two other designers) instead of celebrate in her native New York. And perhaps a few of her celebrity friends will make an appearance. Her fall collection has a couple of great pairs of leather leggings -- one of the hot trends for fall -- one black, one cordovan red. This will probably turn out to be her sell-out item in many locations.
