Anne Hathaway Laments Her 'Vanilla' Image, Admits 'I'm Not Rihanna'
The "Les Miserables" star wants an edgier image and to become a mom. Can she have both?
Anne Hathaway is really tired of being perceived as a Girl Next Door character.
The actress, 30, positioned for an Oscar for her role as the tortured Fantine in Les Miserables, discusses her goody two-shoes public perception in the February issue of Harper's Bazaar.

The Devil Wears Prada breakthrough, now 30, goes into detail about her inner torment at having zero "sex appeal.”
"I'm not Rihanna," she tells Bazaar. 'I'm not cool. When people come up to me in the street, they often want a hug, not a photo, and they want that because they like my work. For a long time ... I was seen as this bizarre-world, good-girl cartoon that I in no way identified with – very vanilla, very sweet, very accessible and not interesting. I had no grit, no sex appeal."
Perhaps that’s why she looks so seriously sultry on the mag's cover and poses inside looking sexy in Valentino, Christian Dior, as well as items from Louis Vuitton, Swarovski, Bulgari and Ralph Lauren.
STORY: Media Frenzy Over Anne Hathaway's Commando Performance
Her desire to break out of the good-girl mold may also explain that out-of-character, racy Tom Ford gown worn to the New York premiere of Les Mis. The sheer chiffon design required her to go commando (i.e., panty-less). Unfortunately, she was photographed struggling to get out of a car, exposing her lady parts in the process and inspiring the less-than-thrilling Internet moniker, "the Full Hathaway."
But she's also anxious to become a mom, which is not going to help counter that good-girl image.

She told Stella Magazine: "I've wanted to be a mom since I was 16. I'm 30 and I want to have a family of a certain size. I'll start with one healthy kid, but I'd like to have a few naturally and adopt. I gotta get on it, you know?"
