For many fans left in disbelief by news that Avril Lavigne accepted a marriage proposal from Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, photographic evidence has arrived.
The couple has not named the designer of Lavigne’s stunning rock, but it appears to be a large (read: it spans from knuckle-to-knuckle) teardrop diamond, surrounded by two smaller diamonds on either side.
Speaking with HELLO! Canada, the Canadian duo opened up for the first time about their whirlwind courtship. According to a rep for the “Complicated” singer, Kroeger popped the question on Aug. 8.
“I knew I was falling for her,” Kroeger said of working with Lavigne. “It was incredibly powerful and something I’ll never forget.”
The couple reportedly met in February while Kroeger was working on Lavigne’s upcoming fifth studio album. At the time, Lavigne and longtime beau Brody Jenner had recently called it quits.
This will be the second marriage for Lavigne, 27, who split from Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in 2009 after three years of marriage. It will be the first marriage for Kroeger, 37.
“He makes me laugh every day,” Lavigne said of her fiancé. “He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive.”
According to People, Lavigne and Kroeger have not yet set a date to walk down the aisle.
