A 'Boardwalk Empire'-Themed New Year's Eve Party: Get Out Your '20s Garb
Expect to see prohibition era styles this awards season, and, if you're so inclined, wear some of your own on New Year's Eve.
All of these films and TV shows based in the twenties -- The Artist, Hugo, Boardwalk Empire -- have totally whet our appetite for flapper dresses and flying fringe and men in three-piece gangster suits, fedoras and wingtip shoes.
Luckily, those looks are all part of the spring collections from Gucci, Marc Jacobs and other designers. And there's already a place to wear them, on New Year's Eve of all evenings: The Boardwalk Empire New Year's Eve black tie party at the Andaz Hotel, given by party promoter Rich Royal.
The invite on Facebook reads: "Dress to the Black Tie Prohibition Nines!"
Most New Year's Eve parties rely on champagne, and if you're lucky, caviar, to entertain the troupes. This one will rely on those things plus wardrobe. It will go on from 9pm to 2am on Saturday night, Dec. 31. And while we suspect that Steve Buscemi and Kelly McDonald will have other plans (although we'll be seeing them at the Globes on Jan. 15), there will be plenty of people dressed like them at this event at the West Hollywood event.
Luca Ellis, a Michael Buble-style crooner, will perform live, before a DJ takes over at 11pm. You can book dinner in advance at 323 785 6090 (those seated for dinner don't pay the extra admission fee), or you can just go late and have cocktails to ring in 2012, at $30 per person or $50 per couple.
If you feel the need for bottle service, you can email the promoter directly. And don't even think of going if you're not dressed to go retro with the best of the jazz age wannabes.
