Burning Torch is a distinctly L.A. label.
It was founded in 1999 by Karyn Craven as a line that respects individuals and their cultures by blending vintage, modern, organic fabrics and global sentiments. Craven is known for a heavy use of recycled materials. The aesthetic is romantic, a bit boho, charming and girlish -- in other words, very Los Angeles.
And very Venice. So, it's fitting that Burning Torch would pick Venice's Abbot Kinney Boulevard to open their first ever flagship boutique. They will throw open the doors to an opening soiree on June 20th, benefitting the Cura Orphanage in Kenya, and the boutique will combine the main women's line with a men's line, an accessories line and Baby Torch. Abbot Kinney is one L.A. retail area known for individualistic brands -- stores that are one of a kind, not chains -- and often they have a very artisinal feel. In a word: original.
Meanwhile, the line is in 200 stores in the U.S. alone, and is also sold in Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea, Israel, New Zealand, Russia and England.
