Cannes 2012: Jessica Chastain Scores With Two Dolce & Gabbana Short Cuts (Poll)
At Cannes to promote her animated 3D film, "Madagascar 3," in which she plays a sexy jaguar, the actress also has a slew of more serious films due out this year.
Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain (The Help) picked a very pretty floral print dress by Dolce & Gabbana for a photo call for her new 3D animated film, Madasgascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.
The sleeveless sheath from the house's Spring 2012 collection is eye-catching not only for the colors -- purple, yellow, turquoise -- but also for the distinctive print featuring vines, flowers, leaves and scrollwork.
And at yesterday's Madagascar 3 photo call, (yes, for some reason, there were two) she also donned Dolce & Gabbana, a puff-sleeved B&W polka dot frock with lace trim on the bodice, sleeves and hem.
Madagascar 3, the third in the series of animated films centers on four domesticated beasts from Manhattan’s Central Park Zoo — Alex the lion (Ben Stiller), Marty the zebra (Chris Rock), Gloria the hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Melman the giraffe (David Schwimmer) — who go on crazy adventures, this time in Europe. Chastain does the voice of a brand new character, the sexy jaguar called Gia.
What is this silly kids movie doing at Cannes? Big business, that's what. The first two films have earned more than $1.1 billion in worldwide box office. And according to some critics, so far Madagascar 3 has been the highlight of the festival.
Chastain is certainly keeping busy. She's finished the Untitled Terrence Malick project and Tar, about the life of C.K. Lewis. Zero Dark Thirty, directed by Kathryn Bigelow is due out in December and the horror film, Mama, is in post production. Lawless, a Prohibition era thriller set in the Deep South, also starring Gary Oldman, Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce and Mia Wasikowska, is due out in in August.
She's also set to star in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, which will be two films (his and hers versions) with Joel Edgerton and American Darling, the story of an American woman's life in Liberia from the 1970s to 1991.
Besides the fact that these six projects sound like fascinating films, this is great news for fashionistas because it means that Chastain will be on more red carpets in fabulous gowns very soon.
In the meantime, we've picked our fave (the floral print) but which Dolce & Gabbana dress do you like best?
