New York-based designer Rachel Roy doesn't need a lot of intro -- Michelle Obama wears her clothes, as do other celebs, and she's carried by many chic stores. She's also a New York socialite and nightlife fixture and the former wife of music impresario Damon Dash. Now she's coming to Los Angeles to host a lunch and private preview party for her new dress collection on July 17 at Mr. C.

Roy's fall dresses fit into her New York chic aesthetic - light cool sheath dresses with a nice fit, in the $300 to about $500 price range. The fall looks are rooted in flattering blue shades, dark red, and of course, black and white. Fitted by but not crazy tight, they're also perfect for L.A.'s power women to go to work, then go out in the evening to dinner or screenings.
