Christian Louboutin, the famous shoe designer known for his trademark red soles, has accepted the daunting but enviable task of creating a pair of dream-come-true modern high heels for the iconic footwear fairy tale character, Cinderella.

Louboutin was invited by Disney Studios to bring Cinderella's glass footwear up-to-date for the release of their Blu-ray Diamond Edition of the studio’s animated fairy tale Cinderella.

This announcement is perfectly timed to precede Louboutin’s 20th Anniversary retrospective exhibition at Design Museum London, which runs from May 1 through July 9.

The exhibit will explore Louboutin’s design process, taking visitors through every stage of how a shoe is constructed, from initial drawings and first prototypes through production in the factory. It will also explore the company’s innovative store designs. But we can't wait to find out what goes on in the exhibit's Fetish and Hologram Rooms. We hear images of partial nudity may make those rooms the most popular parts of the exhibit.

“Isn’t it everyone’s dream, to once in your life part of a fairy tale?,” enthuses Louboutin.  “Walt Disney Studios gave me a wonderful opportunity to live this magical moment. I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world.”

We feel sure that Louboutin is up for the task since his creations are already whimsical and glamorous. Plus, his shoes already make his female customers feel like princesses.

Born in Paris, raised by his mother and three sisters, he is very much in touch with women's needs and desires. Louboutin’s unmistakable red soles, inventive designs and exceptional craftsmanship have gained him a loyal following, including some of the world’s most stylish women. Among his fans: Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Elle Macpherson, Michelle Williams, Kate Bosworth, Penelope Cruz, Kate Moss, Mila Kunis, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Blake Lively and just about every actress who walks the red carpets and wants to look hot. 

More details will be released in July. We're already thinking see-through vinyl shoes with plexi heels, perhaps decorated with diamonds to play off the whole Diamond Edition DVD name. Just a wild guess. But will the shoes have red soles? Of course they will.
