The Creative Arts Emmys' Stylish Blue Period

The hottest hue for fall is cobalt blue, so it was only a matter of time till the tone showed up on the red carpet. After all, every other popular shade -- red, coral, purple, emerald, champagne, fuschia -- has shown up in droves in the last few years. Now it's blue's turn to shine.

Emmy Gown Preview: Floral Print and Red Reign at the Creative Arts Emmys This Weekend

And shine it did, in metallic deep blue satin -- a very purply shade of blue -- on both Lake Bell and Margaret Cho on the red carpet of the Nokia Center last night for the Creative Arts Emmys. Both gowns were cut close to the body in flattering shapes, and both ladies wisely chose to add little embellishments to a very statement impact made by shiny cobalt against a blue sky.

Bell's gown was by Parisian designer Andrew Gn, who makes beautiful dresses, but he isn't often worn in Hollywood. The only other actress we can recall wearing him to an awards show is January Jones to the Golden Globes once. 

Cho's gown was made for the Best Guest Star nominee by Los Angeles-based gown designer Ina Soltani, who's dressed a number of celebs in her red carpet creations -- but who is also starting to breakthrough on the daywear front. Soltani shows up this season on Joe Zee's Sundance channel fashion reality show All On the Line, attempting to create a new line of daywear for the etail site Shopbop.com. She's certainly pulled it off in the eveningwear genre -- this is the best Margaret Cho's ever looked, and it actually flatters her colorful tats!
