Tom Ford Will Dress Daniel Craig in New James Bond Film
When the actor returns to the big screen in "Skyfall," he'll be wearing a wardrobe almost exclusively from the designer.
Ford, Tom Ford. Daniel Craig's 007 will be dressed to kill in Tom Ford for the upcoming Bond film Skyfall (Nov. 2012). The American designer, who created bespoke suits for Craig in 2008's Quantum of Solace, worked with costume designer Jany Temime (Harry Potter films) to create the British superspy's wardrobe — including eveningwear, suits, dress shirts, ties, casual knits, accessories and yet-to-be-revealed eyewear that's exclusive to the Bond character.
Sean Connery first took on the role of Ian Fleming's superspy wearing custom Saville Row suits with Turbull & Asser shirts in 1962's Dr. No; Roger Moore also wore custom suits during his tenure as Bond in the 1970s and 1980s. Pierce Brosnan ushered in Italian tailor Brioni (keeping with the tradition of Turnbull & Asser shirts) when he stepped into the role in 1995's GoldenEye. Craig continued to wear Brioni in 2006's Casino Royale — his single-button dinner jacket with grosgrain silk-trimmed peak lapels could only be upstaged by blue La Perla swim trunks — and that's saying a lot.
"I could not be happier to be dressing Daniel Craig again in the next James Bond film. James Bond epitomizes the TOM FORD man in his elegance, style and love of luxury. I am thrilled to move forward with this iconic character,” says Ford.
Craig stepped out at press conference in London on Nov. 4 wearing a gray two-piece notch lapel suit with a classic collar shirt and silk jacquard tie all by Tom Ford to mark Skyfall's production. In the film from Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes (1999's American Beauty), Craig will appear alongside Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes and Judi Dench. English actress Naomie Harris, as field agent "Eve," and French actress Berenice Marlohe, as glamorous "Severine," will add heat playing the new Bond girls.
